Fritz Kohl Concepts is setting new standards in wood processing with a new production approach. By combining tree edges & burl woods as well as casting resins, it has succeeded in developing a thin veneer with a thickness of less than 1mm - an innovation that not only saves costs but also opens up completely new design possibilities.
Traditionally, wood products are manufactured using epoxy resin - a technique that produces impressive visual effects but is not suitable for all areas due to the material properties and ingredients. By switching to a special polyurethane and a specially developed separation technique, we are now able to offer the natural beauty of wood in an ultra-thin and cost-effective version.
‘Our new technology makes it possible to make the fascinating depth effect and versatility of solid wood epoxy resin products accessible in a completely new way,’ explains Felix Kruschel, Technical Developer at Fritz Kohl. ‘The thin veneer is light, flexible and can be easily applied to a wide variety of surfaces - ideal for furniture construction, interior design and exclusive design projects.’
Maximum design freedom & economic advantage
In addition to the considerable cost savings, the innovative polyurethane veneer offers enormous design potential. Colors, textures and effects can be individually adapted, meaning that there are virtually no creative limits. At the same time, the characteristic grain of the wood used is retained, giving every surface a sophisticated, natural look.
With this technology, Fritz Kohl Concepts is creating a completely new class of material for designers, architects and furniture manufacturers who were previously restricted by the high cost of solid epoxy resin wood products.
